The NI / The West Central Railway had already initiated extensive preparations in advance for continuous safe rail operations during the summer season. West Central Railway is committed to the safety of its passengers. In this regard, several measures have been taken to maintain the tracks, particularly because the temperature of long welded rail tracks increases significantly during summer days. From a safety perspective, patrolling by hot weather patrolmen is being ensured on all routes of WCR. Additionally, special monitoring is being maintained on all girder bridges and sharp curves under the West Central Railway.

Track de-stressing work is being prioritized and executed on all routes and sections according to the track’s behavior and activities. Ballast is being promptly supplied to locations where it is low, and ballast screening is being carried out using ballast cleaning machines at necessary locations. Continuous inspection of the tracks is being conducted by field officers and supervisors. Safety seminars, workshops, and knowledge tests are being periodically organized for all staff involved in maintenance work during the summer in the engineering, TRD, and signal departments to update them on the precautions to be taken during summer maintenance work.

Safety campaigns are being conducted from time to time to ensure the safety and security of the tracks during the summer season. Under the skilled guidance of General Manager Shobhana Bandopadhyay and continuous monitoring by officers of all three divisions, uninterrupted train operations are being smoothly carried out even in extreme heat. West Central Railway is committed to safety and security. The campaigns for safety and security by WCR will continue in the future as well.
