In the hearing regarding the ban on SIMI (Students’ Islamic Movement of India) in the High Court, the government presented its stance.

The NI / Jabalpur / A hearing was held in the tribunal constituted to address the ban on the Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). During the hearing on Thursday, the government presented its position to the court, stating that activities related to SIMI members are still ongoing. Therefore, the ban on SIMI should not be lifted but extended further. The government informed the court that SIMI’s activities are still continuing in many cities across the country.
Advocate Naeem Khan, representing SIMI, stated that during the next hearing, they will also present their side. He mentioned that no crimes have been registered against SIMI in any district in recent years and that there have been no observed activities by SIMI, indicating that the organization has effectively been dissolved. Hence, they will request the removal of the ban on SIMI. Naeem Khan challenged the government to provide evidence of any actions taken against SIMI in the past seven to eight years, including any FIRs registered.
During the hearing, the government debated for four hours, presenting several significant pieces of evidence to support the continuation of the ban on SIMI. The hearing, presided over by Justice Purushendra Kaurav, lasted for approximately four hours, with the government presenting its case to the court.
