16th Battalion The Kumaon Regiment was inducted to Military Station Pithoragarh.

■ The Battalion was entrusted with the responsibility to enhance the defence potential of Tawaghat during “OPERATION SNOW LEOPARD”. The battalion put forth outstanding professionalism and commitment in executing the task entrusted during the ongoing situation against China along the LAC.

The battalion apart from being at the forefront during “OPERATION SNOW LEOPARD” also enhanced the image of Indian Army and the nation by providing sound logistical and administrative support during Joint Military Exercises with Friendly Foreign Countries including “Exercise KAZIND 2019” and “Exercise Surya Kiran XIII”. The Battalion also put forth tireless and proactive efforts during fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

dedication, unflinching attitude and the will to excel 16th Battalion The Kumaon Regiment was awarded with “General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Central Command Unit Appreciation on 27 February 2021 in the Investiture Ceremony held at Jabalpur.
